ASIC & Agent Exception Process
Due to ASIC system limitations, there are instances when you may try to lodge a form via Waive or the ASIC agent portal and it will get rejected by ASIC stating something along the lines of:
- Signing officer name must match office holder name.
- Changes and cessations to member details must match the existing details on ASIC's record.
- Changes and cessations to member details must match the existing details on ASIC's record. The member does not exist on ASCOT.
- Family name contains invalid characters Please check name, invalid characters encountered
Unfortunately ASIC will not allow forms to be lodged online for some companies, as they cannot process certain data, such as:
- if a member has initials as part of their surname
- if a member has more than 30 characters in their first name, middle name, other name or surname.
- If a member has more than 3 given names.
- If a member has no legal first name.
Note that the above is not an extensive list of all the data that ASIC cannot currently process.
Due to these system limitations agents will need to lodge forms for those companies via the paper exception process.
Note that there is currently no workaround for this process.
